Book Study

The Formative 5 in Action serves as an interactive guide that steers teachers toward a successful implementation of the formative five techniques of observation, interviews, Show Me, hinge questions, and exit tasks. 

Our book study will offer:

• Video examples of each technique in action in real K - 12 classrooms, showing teachers not just what to do but how to do it.
• An engaging format with built-in reflection exercises and activities.
• An explicit emphasis on providing effective and timely feedback.

Educators will be encouraged to experiment with the formative techniques between each network meeting, reflect on their impact on student and teacher understanding, and then share their insights with other participants. After the book study, teachers will gain a deeper understanding of formative assessment and effective techniques for immediate use in general education, special education, or intervention classrooms.

Participants who register by Sept 10th and are in attendance at the first meeting on October 2, 2024, will receive a copy of the book The Formative 5 in Action, K-12. Those who register 9/10/24 will receive a copy of the book once the book is available and are in attendance at a meeting.
